1. Other peoples opinion are good but it is mostly up to you to decide which is best for you.
2. Save up and get the best. If your gonna waste money, why not waste it in something more worthwhile. Your gonna have more fun with it in the long run and it is worth every penny you put up. Cheapskates will always be the first to complain on their gun. If they havent been too impatient and saved up, they wouldnt have to suffer grief and loss of money in the first place.
3. Choose AEGs based on your desired play type. You cannot use an mp5k for sniping and a psg1 for cqb.
4. Choose AEGs based on your body built. Do not get AEGs that are taller or heavier than you. Do not get AEGs that are too small and light for your either. You'll only look rediculous.
5. The more peices/parts/sections an AEG have, the more likely you'll have a problem.
6. It is always a good idea to upgrade the internal's durability. Do not complain if your AEGs stock internals break. They are all bound to break sooner or later... that is why there are replacement parts, better parts.
7. The more accesories your gun has, the more rediculous you gun will look. Who in their right mind puts a gun flashlight in a day time game? Who in their right mind puts a red dot scope along with a laser pointer? Redundant and expensive... it shows your ignorance.
8. If your not planning to upgrade... not even in the near future, ANY AEG will do for you. Stock guns have basically the same performance, range and accuracy. Just choose which look you prefer.
9. If your playing CQB get SMG AEGs. If your playing woodland get AEG rifles. If your playing both, either get approprate AEGs for each feilds or get medium range AEGs that can do both. I would suggest you to do the latter. 2 AEGs are better than one.
10. Match your AEG with the look your going for. Real steel USMC recon do not use p90 guns in woodland. Having mismatched gears and equipment is a look better suited for terrorist uniforms or gangsters.
11. AEG durabilty is number in priority. Performance, range, accuracy, and ROF can be achieved through upgrades, modifications and kits.
12. Go with well known AEG brands.
13. Using the same battery, internals and springs, do not dream that a 560 motor has better ROF than a 1000... even a 700. Although this is true you can always use bigger capacity batteries to match the ROF of better motors.
14. Longer inner barrels or tight barrels have little effect in stock AEGs but is a tremendous advantage in upgraded ones.
15. AEGs with lever hop adjustment are more accurate than AEGs with dial hop adjustments.
16. AEG with ABS plastic for body is durable enough.
17. If you are a noob go for AEGs that can easily be upgraded... easily be opened up for personal modification.
18. AEGs are not real steel weaponry and has limitations.
19. Go to your nearest airsoft shop and try feeling each AEGs for comfortability.
20. If your buying from outside your country, have it upgraded and include your desired accesories to save on shipping.
21. Rather than knowing the maximum performance of your chosen AEG, get information on its limitations.
22. If your feild prohibits fps that go above 400fps, higher version gearbox is not a priority... just a durability precaution.
23. No AEG is beyond repair... unless there are no parts available for it, you can always ask a machinist for help.
24. You do not make the AEG perform for you, you have to do with what is available or is limited to your AEG and work on ways to make it an advantage.
25. Different AEGs have different purposes. Different AEGs have different effectiveness in the feild. You cannot compare them all and say which gun is the best.
26. There are two things you have to do to silence your AEG. One is to use an effective silencer to mask bb exit sound. Two is to wrap your gear box with dynamat to mask gearbox sound. Both does not affect gun performance in any way.
27. Silenced AEGs are not always good. Demonically loud AEGs also can give you a psychological advantage in the feild.
28. Do not go over 450fps unless you have a reinforced gearbox.
29. Do not add a longer inner barrel unless you are sure the cylinder can produce the necessary air to push your bbs out.
30. Not all AEG need scopes. Not all AEG need accuracy. Not all AEG need range. Not all AEG need a good ROF. It all depends on how you use it.
31. When buying AEG from an outside source always have extra money for for shipping. You can buy in bulk or with friends to save on shipping.
32. Always buy from a large retailer, trusted retailer, well known retailer.
33. When buying second hand, check the AEG out first before throwing your money away. Check the screws, parts and internals as well. Do not buy from people you dont know.
34. When buying from a retailer, always specify parts you want and what gun it is for. Their are ignorant airshoft shop employees out there that will ruin your day.
35. Always buy 100% silicon spray with your gun. New guns have dried up hop rubbers due to long storage and shipping. Dried hop rubber will lead your AEG to misfire and misfeed. Clean and lube your gun before using it. Once the hop rubber is soft it will eliminate your misfeeding and misfiring problems.
36. Do not use old, chipped, warped, dirty bbs in your AEG. Do not use metal bbs in your AEG unless it is properly modified for that purpose.
37. Do not open your AEG unless you have the right tools, equiptment, and knowledge. Do not open your AEG as well unless you can afford to buy another set of parts or send your AEG in a repair shop if you mess up.
38. When recieving your AEG, always properly charge the battery. Excitement will only make you mess up the batteries.
39. Buy a gun bag with your AEG. It is imperative that you conceal this things in public.
ust to add to what Denski is saying:
40. While there are other factors, the ultimate decision in getting an AEG or any other gun is to satify your own personal prefrences. Just because someone else doesn't like a gun, doesn't mean that it's a poor choice. It''s best to investigate, look at the facts, consider the opinions, and then make your decision. Don't simply buy a gun because ___ person said it was a good gun. If you don't like that gun for whatever reason, then it's best not to get it. If you wish to reconsider the recommendation in the future, look for a shop that has the gun or a person who already owns the gun and ask to hold it and perhaps fire off a couple rounds. That way you can get a feel for the gun without having to make a significant financial commitment.
41. In regards to the gun bag, the point is if you plan to transport a gun in public, you want to make it look as inconspicuous as possible. This also extends to when you are riding/driving in the car. Just laying your gun on the back seat is NOT a good idea.
42. Do not assume that people know that your gun is not real, AEGs look fairly realistic, or in the very least, they will to a bystandard or some non airsofter. If you assume anything, assume that they have never seen an airosft gun in their life and cater to that. Treat your AEG as a real firearm. If you wouldn't engage in a certain behavior with a real firearm, then don't do it with an AEG.
43. Do not use an AEG or any other airosft gun as a tool for a prank or a Halloween prop. If you choose to disregard this, you put your life in danger and this sport in danger. Airosft in general is a very fragile institution. Each incident of carelessness gives ammuntion to the opponents of airsoft (and other similar activities) and brings it all the closer to it being prohibited. And do not assume that simply because you live in a state or an area away from an incident, that you are immune Laws regrading guns have a tendancy to trickle to other states or even reach a federal level.
44. Keep your guns on safe with your finger off the triger when you are moving from the parking lot to the field, or the staging area to the field..
45. Check your local field regulations before deciding to upgrade. There's nothing worse than not being able to use a brand new AEG shotting at 450 FPS, because your local field only allows AEGs to shoot 400 FPS. In also applies to informal skirmishes. Even though you may think that it's funny or cool to shoot someone with a high FPS weapon, others may not agree with you. It's not worth loosing a friend or field privledges, simply because you think you are above or immune to the rules and decide to violate them.
46. Oftentimes fields will have an engagement limit regrading guns, this is especially true for upgraded guns. It is your own obligation to educate yourself about the field policies. Pleading ignorance is not aq valid excuse.
47. Allow for a window or a buffer when setting your budget when buying a gun. This leaves room for any other items that you may have forgotten or any miscalculations or price changes that might occur. For example, if you want to spend $300 on a AEG, save up and plan for atleast $350, as it will allow you a much larger degree of freedom when choosing what to buy.
48. Remember, buying an AEG isn't only buying a gun. Unless it specifies otherwise, you'll also need to buy a charger, discharger, any extra magazines and atleast 1 battery. It is a good idea to buy and carry atleast 1 extra battery, as you do not know when your battery may malfunction or go abruptly dead. Do not assume that another airsofter wil lend you an extra battery. While he or she may do this, it is your job to bring anything that your gun amy need, This includes any exctra bags of BBs or a spare battery.
